A True Moreton Island Elopement with Chris and Jenny and a whole lot of love

Meet my Power Couple Chris and Jenny, who ditched traditional wedding planning for their private and magical moment on Moreton Island, a place that they both treasure, and where so many BIG moments have happened during their whirlwind romance. It was just the two of them, barefoot on the sand, mesmerised by each other, as they declared forever. Their beach ceremony wasn't the usual beach wedding ceremony, it was uniquely theirs and I'm so excited to share their story with you below.

What were your hopes and dreams for your Moreton Island elopement?

A special day full of memories that we both could treasure forever. Something simple yet still personal to us.

What were you worried about or didn't know when planning your beach wedding ceremony?

Because we were having such a small wedding on the island, which should have been a logistic nightmare; we were unsure if vendors would think our day was worth their time. How wrong we were, the attentiveness and effort that went into making our day what is was, you could have mistaken our elopement for the biggest event that year.

What are you thankful for?

We are thankful for the entire team that made our day so very special. They all worked together on the day and the lead up so all we pretty much had to do was turn up. Zero stress, just set and forget.

How would you describe the feel of your intimate beach ceremony?

Our ceremony was out of this world. Kerri’s take on our personal story was picture perfect and the life she gave it made it all the more special. We felt like a friend was marrying us, she was so wonderful. If we could do it all again, we would pick Kerri every single time.

Did someone say "Surprise Wedding Ceremony Script"!!!! Chris and Jenny trusted me with creating a surprise script, and because it was only the two of them (plus two witnesses thank you Moreton Island Weddings Team), the script was a reflection of their personal journey question answers told to each other as a surprise (through their eyes).

Their "homework" answers had me laughing and nawwwwwing all over the place, and as I prepared to write their script, I just knew that the only way I could do their love story justice, was to craft their ceremony through their eyes. And I'm so proud that I nailed it for them.

Here is an example of the magic I was working with.

What does love mean to you?

Chris answered: "Jen"

I mean come onnnnnnnnn, love is HIS person nawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, doesn't that just make your heart explode!!!!!

Jenny answered: "I love a lot of people in my life, including family and friends. But love with Chris is being 100% vulnerable like I am with no one else. It’s knowing I can count on

him for anything, and it’s knowing he will catch me if I fall."

And Jen's words hit me right in the feels!!!!

Their ceremony felt like I was a fly on the wall and I had this magical gift to see into their souls - thank you so much for sharing such an intimate moment with me Chris and Jenny xxx

What are the things you would never change?

We gave our stylist full creative licence from location, to colours to setup - zero regrets. It was absolutely stunning.

Top 3 tips for your Moreton Island Beach Elopement

  1. Book the Moreton Island Weddings team.

  2. Just look forward to enjoying the day (the Moreton Island Weddings team have everything else under control.)

  3. Make sure if your husband is going to break your dress, it’s after the wedding, not before.

Hey Jenny, I thought you were going to say "make sure that your celebrant buys you a drink before she rips you out of your dress" 😉 Great advice here - we've got you!

Who were your Moreton Island vendors?

Sunset Picnics and Platters - Styling and Grazing

A Blushing Beauty - Hair and Makeup

How would you describe your vendors and how did you find them?

What a team! All such genuine people, with a passion for what they do. I wouldn’t have changed any of them. We found Kerri after Tangalooma Island Resort recommended her to us. Kerri then recommended the rest of the team. Hair and makeup was also from Kerri, but not part of the Moreton Island Weddings team.

Do you recommend your vendors?

Absolutely all of them!

How would you describe Kerri Watkins Celebrant to other couples?

Where do we start! Kerri is a ball of life with the most contagious energy! She is a great listener, an incredible words master and is absolutely unflappable. We will be forever grateful for our day, we love you Kerri ♥️

Chris and Jenny also shared this love for the Moreton Island Wedding Team:

"Thank you for making our day so special. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer, more professional team of people. You're all so wonderful and I'll be forever grateful."

Chris and Jenny, the pleasure was all ours! Thank you for sharing your intimate elopement with us on beautiful Moreton Island. And thank you for sharing your tips with other couples here.

Ps your ceremony spot is now "Chris and Jenny's spot" and I BIG smile every time I drive past. At sunset, I see you dancing on the beach ;)
