How does it actually work when you book with me?

 

It's easier than you think. Here's how we do it:

1. Step 1 — I send you a booking form
   Once you're booked in, I'll send you a simple form to fill out with your details. Easy.

2. Step 2 — I prefill your NOIM
   I'll take care of filling in the NOIM for you. All you need to do is check it over before we sign it together.

3. Step 3 — We catch up electronically
   We'll jump on a quick video call together, I'll verify your required ID documentation, you'll sign the NOIM electronically with me as your witness, send it back to me, watch me sign it, and that's your lodgement date sorted. Done!

That's it. Three steps. No running around, no printing, no drama.

What if you'd prefer to sign it in person?

 

No worries at all! I can send you a PDF of the NOIM and you can take it to any authorised witness to sign it in person.

 

Once it's witnessed, just email it through to me and that becomes your official lodgement date.

Authorised witnesses in Australia include:

• A Justice of the Peace (JP)

• An authorised marriage celebrant (like me!)

• A barrister or solicitor

• A legally qualified medical practitioner

• A member of the Australian Federal Police or state/territory police

 

Getting married from overseas? I've got you covered.

 

If you're outside Australia when it's time to sign your NOIM, you'll need to have it witnessed by an authorised overseas witness.

These include:

• An Australian Consular Officer

• An Australian Diplomatic Officer

• A notary public

• An employee of the Commonwealth authorised under the Consular Fees Act 1955

• An employee of the Australian Trade Commission authorised under the Consular Fees Act 1955

Your closest Australian Embassy can help you make an appointment to sign in person, or you may be able to sign remotely via a video call with an overseas authorised witness. Just ring them to check what's available.

Once your NOIM is witnessed, email me a copy and that becomes your lodgement date. Just remember it still needs to land with me between 1 month and 18 months before your wedding date.

What ID do you need to lodge your NOIM?

 

The ID requirements are straightforward.

 

Here's what you'll need to have ready when we lodge your NOIM together.

Each person needs to provide one of the following:

• A passport (expired is fine, as long as it hasn't been cancelled), or

• A driver's licence or government-issued photo ID plus your birth certificate

 

That's it for most couples! Simple.

 

If you've been married before, you'll also need to provide proof that your previous marriage has ended:

• Death certificate (if you were widowed), or

• Divorce certificate (if you were divorced)

Documents not in English?
You'll need to provide:

• A certified copy of the original document, and

• A translation by a NAATI-accredited translator (that's the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters)

It's worth getting this sorted early, as translations can take a little time to organise.
