Dreaming of a beautiful, intimate stress-free wedding at the stunning Tangalooma Island Resort Boundary? Look no further! In this comprehensive guide, we’ll answer all your questions about planning a hassle-free ceremony at this breathtaking location. From legal paperwork to photography and accommodation, we’ve got you covered.
How much time or notice do we need to arrange the Ceremony?
A completed and witnessed NOIM needs to be completed and lodged with your celebrant one month prior – this can be done via a video link.
Do you apply for the NOIM on our behalf?
Absolutely, this is included in your fee, and I take care of all the legal paperwork, including applying for your Official Certificate of Marriage from Births, Deaths and Marriages (evidence of your marriage and required if you are changing your name).
Do we need a wedding permit?
Yes, I apply for this on your behalf.
What do we do if we don’t have any witnesses?
That’s the great thing about Tangalooma Island Resort. There are generally plenty of people that we can ask if they would be willing to step in as witnesses for your Ceremony. The only requirement is that they are over the age of 18 and speak and understand English.
Alternatively, you can use your photographer (if you have one) or any other wedding supplier that will be with you on the day. If you are having Sunset Picnics and Platters style your Ceremony or picnic, she is more than happy to be a witness for your Ceremony.
Another option is that I can arrange to bring two witnesses with me on the day.
Note: this is an additional fee to cover their transport arrangements.
Is there a hairdresser or makeup artist on the island?
There are no resident hairdressers or makeup artists on the island (at this stage), so you would need to arrange for one to come over from the mainland. An alternative would be to have this done before you board your ferry or the barge and arrive on the island ready to get married.
Where can we get married at Tangalooma Island Resort if we aren’t going through Tangalooma Weddings?
We would need to go outside of the resort, so there are two options (I’ve attached map pics for you):
1) Approx 300m (4-5 min) walk south of the boundary - usually really, really quiet and has gorgeous water views. This is also the closest location to the ferry terminal and the hotel.
2) Approx 1.2km (20 min) walk north of the resort towards the Tangalooma Wrecks - a little busier, and usually, people walking through.
For more options, check out this blog post.
Do you have any photographer, styling or catering recommendations?
Absolutely, we can discuss your requirements and budget when we catch up obligation-free, and I will make recommendations.
Alternatively, if you are staying within the resort, you can check out Tangalooma Island Resort’s dining options at https://www.tangalooma.com/dining.
What do we do if there is inclement weather?
We are pretty blessed on Moreton Island that the weather is “hardly terrible” on our Island Paradise. However, it is always advisable to have a backup plan. Here are my top 3.
Flexible scheduling:
If possible, try to be flexible with your wedding schedule. If heavy rain or high winds are expected during your planned ceremony time, you may be able to move the event to a different time of day when the weather is more favourable. We can discuss this closer to the date.
Umbrellas and rain gear:
Be prepared by having umbrellas and rain gear on hand for you, your wedding party, and your guests. This can help keep everyone dry during a light drizzle and allow you to continue with your beach wedding.
Embrace the weather:
While it may not be ideal, sometimes embracing the unexpected weather can lead to unique and memorable wedding photos and the most amazing ceremony memories.
What time can we have our Ceremony if we arrive on the Tangalooma Island Resort Ferry?
This depends if you are only at Tangalooma Island Resort for the day or if you are staying on the island.
Generally, ceremony times are between 9:00 am and 2:30 pm. Alternative arrangements can always be made. For example: if you are dreaming of a sunset ceremony, the later ferry option is available on an upgraded package.
Brisbane to Tangalooma Times:
7.30 am departure from Brisbane > Depending on conditions, arrival to Tangalooma is 8.45 am
10.00 am departure from Brisbane > Depending on conditions, arrival to Tangalooma is 11.15 am
Tangalooma Island Resort Times Check-In:
Check-in to the resort is usually 2 pm or 3 pm, which wouldn’t allow enough time for the 4 pm departure boat.
Tip: Try asking for early check-in. Previous clients have advised that their request has been accommodated in some instances. Alternatively, there are plenty of amenities to freshen up within the resort.
Arriving at Tangalooma Island Resort on the 10.00 am ferry is the perfect opportunity to arrive on the island fully dressed and ready to go, especially if you are planning on having your hair and makeup professionally done, as there is no one on the island to do this which means you would need to bring someone with you.
Tangalooma to Brisbane Times:
3.30 pm check-in for 4 pm ferry departure from Tangalooma
6.30 pm check-in for 7 pm* ferry departure from Tangalooma
* Note: this ferry departs as soon as the dolphin feeding ends, so the departure time may vary, and an additional $100 is required to cover the ferry fee if I am not currently on the island.
Where can we book our Tangalooma Island Resort Ferry?
All bookings can be made on their website at: https://www.tangalooma.com/brisbane-day-trip-cruise
Note: parking is available at Holt Street at an additional fee - check their website for current pricing.
Where can we book our Tangalooma Island Resort Accommodation?
All bookings can be made at: https://www.tangalooma.com/accommodation
Tip: A map of the resort can be found at: https://www.tangalooma.com/resort-info/island-and-resort-maps
Are there other accommodation options outside of Tangalooma Island Resort?
You can book alternative accommodation at https://www.stayz.com.au/, https://www.booking.com/, https://moretonislandaccommodationservices.com.au/accommodation/tangalooma/, http://shorebirdonmoreton.com.au/, https://www.castawaysmoretonisland.com.au/ or you can let me know where on the island you are planning to stay and I’ll let you know my other recommendations.
Can we bring our 4WD to Moreton?
Most definitely, you will need to book through Moreton Island Adventures, known as the MICAT. You can also purchase your driving beach permit directly through their website at: https://www.moretonislandadventures.com.au/.
Tip: Locals recommend running your tyre pressure between 15-18, depending on the beach conditions.
How much do you charge for the Ceremony?
Pricing varies depending on your ceremony requirements and my availability on the island. Pricing starts at $1200.
Example pricing:
If I am on the island and you would like a legals only Ceremony at Kooringal, a discount is applied.
If your Ceremony commences at a time when I am arriving or departing the island, a discount is applied.
Generally, it is all about logistics. There is no difference in the energy and love that I pour into each wedding, whether that be a legals only Ceremony with no guests, or a personalised ceremony surrounded by your family and friends. My pricing takes into account factors such as insurance, equipment, time, and the level of experience that I bring to your special day.
Is your fee negotiable?
Unfortunately, my fee is non-negotiable as the service that I provide is non-negotiable. I want to ensure that every couple that I work with receives the same high-quality service, and I always want my couples to book me only if they are 1000% confident in the value they will receive when choosing me as their celebrant.
Can you recommend another celebrant that services Moreton Island?
Absolutely. Get in touch, and I will reach out to my celebrant colleagues to see who is available within your budget and on your chosen date.
