Wedding Vows for the Modern Couple

Your wedding vows are a chance to express your love and commitment to your partner in front of all your family and friends. But writing wedding vows can be tough! How do you sum up everything you feel in just a few short sentences? And what if you want to add a little humour or personality in to your vows? If you're feeling stuck, check out our tips for writing modern wedding vows that will wow your guests.

1. Keep it short and sweet.

The average wedding vow is only about 100 words long, so there's no need to write a novel! Keep your vows concise and focus on expressing your deepest feelings for your partner.

Tip: Check in with your partner and agree on a certain length or amount of words.

2. Personalise your vows.

Your vows should be unique to you as a couple. Add in some inside jokes or references to shared memories to make them extra special.

3. Use humour sparingly.

A little bit of humour can lighten the mood and add personality to your vows, but be careful not to go overboard. After all, this is a serious commitment you're making!

4. Be sincere.

Your guests will be able to tell if you're not being genuine, so make sure your vows reflect how you truly feel about your partner. This is not the time for half-hearted promises! Keep it real!

5. Practice, practice, practice!

Reading your vows aloud before the big day will help you get comfortable with them and give you a chance to make any necessary tweaks. Plus, it'll help to reduce any nerves on the big day itself.

Writing wedding vows may seem daunting, but it's actually a great opportunity to express your love for your partner. Just remember to keep it short, personalise it, add a touch of humour, and be sincere, and you'll be sure to write vows that your partner will remember.
